Dear Waste

Behind Dear Waste are the sisters Miia and Annukka, who have been working together for years not only as siblings, but also as entrepreneurs.

Entrepreneurship in the interior design industry made us pay attention not only to people's purchasing behavior but also to overspending. Concern about climate change and the dwindling of natural resources made us also think about our own activities, and through that a strong interest in developing something new and meaningful business was born.

It all started with a meeting at a smoothie bar!

We met one summer day at the Jungle Juice Bar in the center of Helsinki. During the discussion, we noticed that this small juice bar, of which there are dozens in Finland, disposed of a huge amount of bio-waste every day, e.g. citrus peels. We contacted the company's management and found out that they throw away 700,000 kilos of bio-waste every year, all of which ends up in a landfill.

This got us thinking about what could be done with all that extra bio-waste that is still full of good ingredients. This is how the idea for a completely new home cleaning product line, Dear Waste, was born. We were also very excited about the idea of ​​how the consumer could easily participate in climate change efforts by buying Dear Waste products while also getting high-quality domestic cleaning products.

We started the experiment in our own kitchens and learned more about the world of waste. Now, two years later, we have beautiful biodegradable packaging full of valuable ingredients - good for you and the environment.
