Frequently asked questions about the Laundry Egg!

Frequently asked questions ecoegg laundry eggs

ecoegg There are two different colored pellet bags in the package, what are they?

The package contains both a black pellet bag and white pellet bags. The white pellets contain the actual detergent and the black pellets (tourmaline) remove the water's surface tension and ionize the water to a slightly alkaline state. When you order a new laundry egg, in addition to the shell of the egg, the package contains three bags of white and one bag of black pellets - all these bags are emptied inside the shell of the laundry egg.

There are two white and one black pellet bag in the refill package, all of which can be replaced with a laundry egg shell.

Information about all the ingredients used can be found in the safety information sheet . (Fresh Linen)

ecoegg How does ecoegg work?

The surface-active molecules of the white pellets stick to grease and dirt, removing them from the washable fabric. Surfactants break down dirt and grease and carry them away from the machine with the water. The other ingredients of the pellets ensure that dirt and grease do not transfer back to the laundry but remain in the water.

The black tourmaline pellets ionize the water, making it slightly alkaline. Alkaline water makes it easier to remove dirt and softens the laundry at the same time. Note! Acidic water can damage the fibers of the clothes being washed.

ecoegg What fragrances are used in ecoegg laundry pellets and how do they smell?

Fragrances have been used in Fresh Linen and Spring Blossom laundry egg pellets, albeit in very small amounts. Fresh Linen smells like pure lavender and Spring Blossom has hints of jasmine. If you have a fragrance allergy, we recommend using a fragrance-free laundry egg or Fresh Linen laundry egg. However, please check the used perfumes here:

Is the ecoegg laundry egg BPA-free?

Yes! The ecoegg case is BPA-free and recyclable. The case is made of a mixture of three different materials that can withstand washing machine temperatures and mechanical movement.

"BPA is used in the production of polycarbonate plastic and as a hardener in other plastics. It makes the plastic more resistant to impacts and high temperatures. Several studies show that BPA can be harmful to the nervous system and hormone function. Babies and young children are at particularly high risk. This is why the European Union has banned The use of BPA in baby bottles." more on the subject: EFSA

ecoegg How do I dispose of used pellets?

Washing pellets should be disposed of with normal mixed waste.

ecoegg Can ecoegg damage my washing machine?

No. ecoegg is completely safe to use in all washing machines. It's made of a durable rubber-like material, so it's gentle on your machine. ecoegg can be used in all types of washing machines, including dryers, but in dryer machines, ecoegg must be removed from the machine before the drying program starts.

ecoegg How many ecoeggs do I need in my machine?

One ecoegg is enough for a 7-8 kg machine. If you have a really big machine, you can use two ecoeggs at the same time. Remember to leave enough room in the machine for the ecoegg laundry eggs to work optimally!

ecoegg How do I know when the washing pellets need to be changed?

Washing pellets should be changed approximately every two months (7-10 weeks) (Starter packs have 20 washes more than refill packs).

When the pellets sink clearly below the upper line of the larger half of the washing egg, the pellets should be replaced. Please note that 60° washes consume pellets faster than low-temperature wash programs.

ecoegg Can I leave the ecoegg laundry egg in the washing machine for the entire wash cycle?

Yes! ATTENTION! IF YOU HAVE A DRY WASHER, remove the ecoegg before starting the drying process.

ecoegg Does the ecoegg laundry egg have to dry between washes?

If you wash several machines in a row, the laundry egg does not need to dry in between. However, remember to put the laundry egg to dry when you are not doing laundry. A good place is e.g. on top of the washing machine or in another airy space! Do not leave the ecoegg in the washing machine drum to dry.

ecoegg At what temperature can I use ecoegg?

ecoegg laundry egg can be used in washing programs up to a temperature of 60°C. It also works great in cold washing water and hand washing. The natural mineral pellets of the ecoegg laundry egg are not designed for washing temperatures above 60°!
